A new extra care housing development providing 92 affordable apartments for older people is set to welcome its first tenants in Lancaster this summer.
The £23m development, Progress Housing Group's flagship St Martin's Court scheme, will offer one and two bedroom homes for rent for people aged 55 and over, alongside access to 24 hour on site care and support.
Built on former University of Cumbria land, the development has been designed to help residents maintain their independence while receiving the care they need.
Daniel Griffiths, director of development at Progress Housing Group, said: "St Martin's Court represents a major milestone for Progress Housing Group and an important investment in Lancaster.
"Grant funding from Homes England has enabled us to deliver an Extra Care scheme that provides high-quality, affordable homes designed to help people live independently for longer, with access to care and support when needed."
The development has been delivered in partnership with Lancaster City Council and Lancashire County Council and represents a significant investment in specialist affordable housing for the district.
