In just 18 months, the Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy has helped 120 Blackpool based businesses to take meaningful steps towards reducing their carbon footprint and cutting energy costs.

Offering fully funded support the Academy aid businesses on their journey to net zero, with sustainability specialists providing hands-on guidance to help owners embrace sustainability in a way that’s practical and cost-effective.

And with a recent rise in energy prices, the support has already proven to be invaluable to many businesses.

The academy’s sustainability specialists Megan Tucker and Caitlin Sanderson are passionate about helping Blackpool businesses thrive all while protecting the environment.

Megan and Caitlin carry out comprehensive energy audits, which result in a personalised decarbonisation action plan for the business. This offers a clear, step-by-step guide to reducing energy use, cutting emissions, and improving efficiency.

A standout success has been the Academy’s grant programme, with 16 per cent of the supported businesses having accessed financial support.

In the last 18 months, this has provided a significant investment into low-carbon technologies and energy-efficient upgrades.

Local businesses such as Force Technology, Penrhyn Hotel, MC Repairs and Stanton and Novelty Confectioners are among some of the companies that have benefited from the support.

Through installing innovative solutions such as, Voltage Optimisers, LED lighting systems, motion sensors, intelligent air handling systems, new insulation for better heating efficiency, and solar panels they are working to reduce their energy dependency.

Megan said: “By installing energy-efficient technologies, businesses can significantly reduce their energy bills while contributing to a greener, more sustainable future for Blackpool.

“We’ve seen some great results, and we want to encourage even more businesses to join us in the Net Zero movement.”

With energy prices rising, Blackpool based businesses are encouraged to explore how they can become more energy efficient and protect themselves from future price hikes. Whether it’s upgrading heating systems, investing in new boiler systems, or installing solar panels, the Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy can help.
