Lancashire3D opens Preston plant

Lancashire3D, the prototype and serial production 3D printing studio, is to open its first plant in Preston which will increase production capacity while reducing lead times.

The firm specialises in high-quality FFF and SLA Resin (including engineering grade), and stocks both general and engineering grade thermoplastics and photopolymers.

Founded in April 2018, it has seen significant traction during the past year, becoming one of the largest companies of its kind in the north.

Its customer base includes both trade and consumers, and production spans prototypes, small runs from ten units to larger runs of more than 5,000 items, and bespoke requests.

The large capacity (currently at 35 new machines) of its new plant will allow it to shorten response times and provide competitive pricing.

In-house services include 3D scanning and reverse engineering, enabling customers to have physical objects digitally reproduced and 3D printed within hours of the receipt of a design.

Steven Pearson, co-founder at Lancashire3D Ltd, said: “We bring more than 10 years technology, design and industry experience and are committed to developing truly innovative ways to marry the art and science of 3D printing, while delivering on our vision to work with recyclable materials.

“Lancashire3D Ltd has grown to be the largest 3D printing studio in the North of England and our new Lancashire based plant will allow us to handle a greater range of engineering materials and support our continued expansion.”

Lancashire3D is committed to sustainable production  and uses up to 90 per cent recycled thermoplastics and 100 per cent recyclable paper-based packaging. Waste streams, such as plastic food containers and drinks bottles are also used for some materials.

The company enforces a strict quality assurance policy and rejects all parts that do not meet specification. By the end of 2019 it plans to be able to recycle 100 per cent of its waste thermoplastic material.
