What does it mean to remember a place? And why does it matter for the future of our city?

Join us for an evening of thought-provoking conversation as local voices come together to explore how Preston’s past continues to shape its present—and why remembering our shared history is vital as the city changes and grows.

Shaping Preston’s Future by Remembering Its Past brings together community leaders, heritage advocates, and creatives to discuss how our history can inform how we move forward.

This event brings together local voices to reflect on the parts of Preston’s past that have shaped who we are today, and why remembering them matters.

Panelists include:

•Ed Walker as chair - Editor and Founder of Blog Preston

•Pat Harrison – Chair of Friends of Winckley Square

•Emily Castle – Friends of Edith Rigby, Preserving Preston’s Heritage

•Peter Smith – prestonhistory.com

Whether you're passionate about local history, involved in community work, or just curious about Preston’s evolving story, we’d love to have you join us to explore how history can help us stay rooted, even as we look ahead.

Expect:
•Insightful discussion
•Local perspectives
•Big questions and honest conversation
•A chance to reflect on the city we call home

Come along, bring your thoughts, and be part of the conversation.

About Live Work Create

Live Work Create is a regular event series hosted by Society1. Each carefully crafted event features a panel discussion around an interesting topic, with our panel participants sharing their thoughts and experiences, to inspire further thought and conversation.

The evening will start at 6pm. Our friends at Creative Lancashire have kindly offered to sponsor this event. Refreshments will be provided and there will be an opportunity to meet and chat with other attendees before the panel discussion.

Getting there:

Society1 is located on Cross Street, just off Winckley Square (PR1 3LT). It is easily accessible by bus and train.

If you need to drive, public parking is available at Fishergate Shopping Centre or Avenham Public Car Park. The Avenham multi storey car park closes at 8pm, so as this event runs later we advise that you park in the open air carpark opposite the multi storey or on the streets around us.

Note: These events might be photographed and this content will be used in future marketing for Society1.
