WHN Solicitors close in on £100,000 fundraising milestone for Rossendale Hospice

Law firm Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall (WHN) Solicitors has raised a further £7,000 for Rossendale Hospice at its 18th annual charity golf day.

Held at Rossendale Golf Club, the event brought WHN closer to passing the £100,000 mark in support of the hospice since the event was first held in 2006, with £96,000 raised to date.

Challenging conditions did not dampen the contest. The closest finish in the golf day’s history saw WGM Project and Building Consultancy and DNA Insulation Services both finish on 98 points, with the former crowned winners after two countbacks. 

Berry Electrical Services clinched third place with 95 points, while professional services firm Leonard Curtis came fourth with 92 points.

“Our firm can trace its roots in the Rossendale Valley back over 200 years, and so the Rossendale Hospice is an organisation that is close to our hearts.

“Many WHN staff, clients and partners have seen the incredible work the hospice does first-hand, and it was fantastic to have the team with us on the day. 

“Hopefully, the £7,000 raised this year can make a real difference and, next summer, we can hit the £100k mark. Lastly, a huge thank you to all teams and sponsors on the day, as well as Rossendale Golf Club for its excellent hospitality.”  

The longest drive competition, sponsored by JJH properties, was held on the 16th hole and won by Ste Warhurst from DNA Insulations. 

The nearest the pin in two prize, sponsored by Leonard Curtis, was won by Gary Anderson of Jones Melling.

“Reaching £96,000 raised through this event is a fantastic achievement and reflects the generosity of our local business community. The £7,000 raised this year will directly support patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses across Rossendale and the surrounding areas.

“As a charity, we receive just 25% of our funding from statutory sources, making the support of events like this vital to helping us continue delivering our care and services. 

“We are proud of our long-standing partnership with WHN and look forward to celebrating the £100,000 milestone together next year.”
