Due to our expanding demand for social media management services, we saw it as a great opportunity to reach out to Burnley College for a digital marketing apprentice, who could support Social Media Executive, Harriet, with our client accounts. We were looking for someone social-savvy, with the passion to learn and get stuck in with the team.

In the short space of time Olivia has worked with us, she is already proving to be a valuable asset to the team, learning the ropes quickly and efficiently, as though she has been with us for months! With her bubbly personality and confidence, Olivia is already getting involved with internal and client meetings, and sharing her own thoughts and ideas, which are already being put into practice.

Originally from Essex, Olivia now lives up north, and studied A Levels in English Literature, History and Law at St. Christopher’s Sixth Form in Accrington before embarking on a Law degree at the University of Manchester. Realising it wasn’t the path Olivia wanted to follow, she decided to opt for a career where she could fulfil her writing and creative passion.

“I started looking into a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, as it would allow me to learn on the job and put it into practice, as well as giving me the opportunity to be surrounded by experienced marketers,” says Olivia.

“After I had my interview at Root Fifty-Two, I knew I’d enjoy it there! The team seemed very friendly and welcoming and I also liked the fact they were a local business supporting other companies in the local area. I was over the moon when I got the job and with the support of Harriet and the rest of the team, I have really settled into my new role.”

“The best thing about my job is being able to use my creativity and coming up with exciting and new ideas for our clients. It’s rewarding to see those ideas being shared and ultimately helping our clients with brand awareness and visibility.”

“I also attend Burnley College once a week, where I liaise with mentors and complete assignments and modules, to help me achieve my Level 3 Diploma in Digital Marketing. A lot of what I will learn will also allow me to bring fresh ideas to the table and I love the fact that the r52 team are keen to hear about what I’ve learned each week.”

“My long-term goal is to secure a permanent position at r52 and work my way up to a senior position in social media and digital marketing management.”

Outside of work, Olivia’s creativity doesn’t stop there – she loves to read, draw and paint – but equally likes to let her hair down by getting together with friends over the weekend with nights out in Manchester and Liverpool.

“It’s a real pleasure to welcome Olivia into our team and watch Root Fifty-Two grow as a business. Olivia has slotted straight into our team and we’re looking forward to supporting her throughout her Apprenticeship journey,” says Kimberley Thompson, director of Root Fifty-Two.

“Social media management, along with email marketing and online advertising, is a growing area of our business, and with Harriet and Olivia now taking charge, we can grow and expand on its success.”
