We’re finalists in the Burnley Business Awards!

After what has been an incredible first half of the year, with our recent acquisition of Alan R Jones & Sons and several awards nominations, we’re thrilled to be adding another awards event to our summer calendar, and we can’t wait to head to Burnley Business Awards this June as finalists!

Burnley Business Awards is an annual event, supported and led by Burnley Council and designed to recognise, promote and celebrate enterprise and entrepreneurship in the local area.

“As a company with a rich heritage of almost 100 years, all of which began in Burnley, we’re proud to call Burnley our home, and to have been recognised in this local awards programme,” says F&W business strategy director, Sam Fagan.

“We’ve always been very proud of our town - it’s where we’re from, and it’s played a vital role in helping the company become what it is today. Being on the M65 corridor gives us great links to the rest of the UK. We’re 40 minutes away from Manchester, 20 minutes away from Preston, and that gets us out into the wider distribution network of the UK.

“As corporate partners of the Burnley Bondholders, we’re huge advocates of the town and believe in promoting its enterprising potential as much as possible, which is why we’ve been pleased to incorporate two Burnley Bondholders liveried trailers into our fleet, which will have been spotted in towns and cities up and down the country in recent years.

“When it came to expanding our operations and moving into a purpose-built warehouse at Burnley Bridge, which we built over five years ago now, we received huge support within the area, particularly from the Bondholders. A lot of the suppliers who helped us set up the site are Bondholder members, and we don’t think we would have received quite that level of support if we were based anywhere else.

“The relationship we have with the council here and the way that Burnley looks to proactively bring business to the area and support businesses like our own isn’t comparable to anywhere else. We are really proud of the relationships we’ve built here, and that’s really a testament to what organisations like the Bondholders are trying to achieve - bring new businesses into the area and support the growth of businesses that are already based here.

“We’re honoured to have been shortlisted for the Large Business Award at this year’s Burnley Business Awards, and we can’t wait to head to Towneley Hall on 30th June to celebrate with our fellow Burnley-based businesses.”

“I know the judges were incredibly impressed by the entries, and it was a tough job to whittle them down to the finalists,” says Mark Cartledge, chief executive at Burnley Council. “It’s testament to the hard work and resilience of our business community over the past two years, and I’d like to thank Burnley businesses for their commitment and perseverance. All the best to the finalists, and we look forward to celebrating the borough’s determination on the night of the awards.”
