With the town centre full of beautiful boutiques and independent shops, as well as small, privately-owned, independent bars, pubs, coffee shops and restaurants, Urmston is a real champion for Small Business Saturday, which takes place on Saturday 7th December 2019.

The annual campaign, which is organised by American Express, and is now in its seventh year, celebrates small businesses on the UK high street.  From a family business, local shop or wholesaler to a manufacturer or business service, Small Business Saturday supports millions of companies every year.

Last year, an estimated £812m was spent in small businesses across the UK, an 8% increase on 2017.

In Urmston, a town with a diverse selection of successful small businesses, Small Business Saturday is a day of celebration, with many retailers and independent businesses offering special discounts, deals and festive events, providing more reasons to shop, eat and drink locally.

The Urmston Artisan Market is also taking place on Saturday 7th December from 10am until 4pm at the Golden Hill Car Park, bringing approximately 100 of the very finest artisan market traders from across the North West.  With a range of authentic goods and emphasis on all that is local, ethical and original, the Urmston Artisan Market is one of the highlights of the town’s calendar.

Wayne Devlin, an Urmston resident as well as actor, singer, compare, columnist and founder of community events website allabouttrafford.co.uk, says: “Urmston is an incredible town with a great sense of community and through my work, I always try to promote and support the many events and initiatives taking place.

“Small Business Saturday is a super campaign that reminds residents to shop local, as well as reaching out to a wider audience to encourage them to visit Urmston and enjoy all that it has to offer.  With the Artisan Market on that day too, Small Business Saturday is sure to be a huge success in Urmston this year!”

Small Business Saturday is the latest in a number of initiatives from Love Urmston, a new brand that highlights all that is great about living, working, shopping and going out in Urmston and the many reasons to visit.  For further information, please visit www.loveurmston.co.uk or follow on Facebook and Instagram.
