UCLan: Here to help you grow your business

At the University of Central Lancashire, we’re about more than just our students. Business at UCLan supports companies across Lancashire to grow revenues, knowledge and workforces.

Sitting at the heart of the county, we’re here to help you as Lancashire aims to build back stronger after Covid-19.

From leading the way in supporting local businesses back to growth, we can link you to new networks and expertise, help you to learn new skills, and build your workforce.

Who we are

While we might attract some of the best talent to study at our campuses in Preston, Burnley, Cumbria and Cyprus, many businesses are still surprised by how much more we have to offer.

We are Lancashire’s largest provider of graduate level qualifications, supplying highly skilled graduates into the workforce every year and have established links with global businesses, police constabularies, NHS trusts and more than 1,000 regional enterprises across a variety of sectors.

We’ve helped more than 1,400 regional companies through business support projects already, with more than 400 jobs created or safeguarded.

Our vision is to create an attractive and inviting, world-class environment helping to create jobs, kick-start regeneration and attract inward investment into Lancashire and North West region.

How our research can give you an edge

We have an established research reputation with world-leading or internationally excellent work taking place within the areas of business, health, humanities and science and an excellent track record of helping businesses grow.

We work collaboratively with you via our research and knowledge to improve your business performance. This includes knowledge exchange and impact, sustainability and business growth.

We achieve this through using a multi-disciplinary approach which leads to strong strategic research priorities. At the same time, our Knowledge Transfer Partnerships can give your business a competitive advantage when developing your company.

Supporting your business - from start up to scale up

We offer a wide range of specialist business support aimed at helping business and organisations to grow, develop and thrive.

We are committed to helping businesses and organisations of all sizes and from all sectors to improve your performance, impact and competitiveness on a global scale. Businesses and organisations can tap into the knowledge of our internationally recognised research centres, the expertise of our staff, students and graduates, and the outstanding facilities we have to offer.

Our business support projects can help you build a network of contacts, solve a problem or learn a skill, or even tap into free expert advice on how to grow your company.

How we can grow and improve your workforce

We work in partnership with businesses and organisations from all sectors to develop and deliver tailored training programmes to grow your workforce, from high quality university courses and professional qualifications to individuals looking to develop their career.

We work with several of these industry sectors to develop skills in these areas including construction, engineering, aerospace, healthcare, IT, technology and digital.

We provide short courses and CPD options with training for professionals wishing to gain specialist knowledge and skills in a particular area, through to degree apprenticeships to help grow a new generation of skilled staff.

Whether you want to improve your current team or add to it, we can help.

Get Involved. Start growing

For any business, reaching out for support is the hardest step. At the University of Central Lancashire, we’re only one phone call away from helping your company grow. We could be the most profitable call you ever make.
