Tyre Safety Month: Are winter tyres worth it?

Winter can often prove a tough time for motorists, with conditions set on making it difficult to get anywhere, one way to prepare your car for the cold and wet weather is to purchase winter tyres.

People often question whether winter tyres are worth it, with so many people relying on their cars to get from A to B, making the switch could be so important.

One of the biggest benefits of winter tyres is that they provide more safety for you and your passengers as they can reduce your stopping distance by up to half on snow and ice. With a thicker tread depth when compared to summer tyres, as well as deeper and wider grooves, they provide better grip and are able to stop quicker.

The general rule of thumb is that you should switch to winter tyres in October, ready for when temperatures begin to drop below 7 ˚C.
