Triple celebration for pest control team

From rats to wasps, bedbugs to cockroaches, Deborah Wood and Gordon Unthank have seen and heard it all during their ten years of service with a Colne based firm of pest control and washroom services specialists.

Deborah Wood joined Harvey Environmental Services as an administrator a decade ago and has seen her role expand from invoicing duties to dealing with customer queries and allocating technicians to attend call outs.

As her customer facing role has grown, Deborah chose to increase her knowledge of the pest control industry by enrolling on the RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management.

The qualification is mandatory for pest control technicians but is not a requirement for office-based staff in the industry. Deborah celebrated her long service anniversary by finding out she had passed the industry standard.

“There’s a great team of staff here at Harvey Environmental and it really is a fantastic company to work for,” said Deborah.

“Everyone is really supportive of each other and we know that we all play a vital role in the success of the company. The management team are really good at recognising the contribution of all staff through regular socials and celebrations and I’m pretty sure I’ll be here until I retire now!”

Former factory worker Gordon Unthank felt the time was right for a career change when he joined the company as a pest control technician ten years ago.

He said: “Martin supported me through my industry training a decade ago and continues to ensure I, and the other pest control technicians, are knowledgeable on the latest industry regulations and standards and that our training is up-to-date.

“No two days are the same as a pest control technician, from dealing with small flying pests to larger rodents, and whether I am working on a job alone or as part of a larger team, it is a fantastic company to work for; I definitely made the right choice when I switched careers.”

Established in 2001, the growing team at Harvey Environmental Services has extensive experience in the pest control and washroom services industries.

They specialise in managing the pest control and washroom services for businesses in the hospitality and retail industries.

Managing director Martin Harvey, a former president of the British Pest Control Association, said: “We are delighted that Deborah and Gordon are celebrating long service milestones with us.

“They are both valued members of our team who have made a valuable contribution to the growth and success of the company over the past ten years. “We pride ourselves on delivering outstanding customer service and a high level of industry expertise to our clients and this is made easier by commitment from employees like Deborah and Gordon.”
