Third Blackburn Beer Festival raises over £20,000 for local charity
The third annual Blackburn Beer Festival has raised more than £20,000 in aid of Blackburn Youth Zone.
May Bank Holiday weekend saw crowds of beer lovers gather at the three day festival held at Blackburn Rugby Club in order to sample the wide range of ales, lagers and ciders available.Festival goers have once again helped to raise an astonishing amount for the borough’s Youth Zone bringing the total amount raised over three years to an incredible £65,000.
Organisers and sponsors of the festival are delighted with the success they have achieved in the third year.Laura Jones, Events Manager for Blackburn Youth Zone and one of the festival organisers, said: "To have raised over £20,000 is fantastic, especially as we didn’t have the weather on our side! Thank you so much to everyone who came along and enjoyed the festival, we really do appreciate all your support.
“Proceeds from the festival will go towards raising hopes, aspirations and opportunities for the town’s young people, by keeping Blackburn Youth Zone open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Blackburn Youth Zone provides the town’s young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to – for just 50p per visit!“We would like to thank everyone who was involved in the Blackburn Beer Festival over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend – breweries, suppliers, local companies, sponsors, beer festival committee, volunteers and the public and for making it such a resounding success!” The festival is set to return for a fourth year in 2017 and promises to be bigger and better!
