The venue that gives back to the environment

Brockholes is an award-winning, floating conference venue set in the heart of a stunning 250 acre nature reserve, near Preston.

Owned and managed by The Lancashire Wildlife Trust, all profits from conference bookings are invested into The Trust’s conservation work on the nature reserve itself. The conference facilities have been specifically designed with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental performance, making Brockholes the ideal choice for any business looking to go green.

Brockholes’ floating design makes it the only one of its kind in the UK. The conference centre, which can seat up to 130 delegates, floats on a lake within a cluster of eco-buildings, nestled amongst the reeds. It is built on a 2,400 square metre concrete pontoon that sits on top of the water and incorporates only the highest environmental standards.

Heating is provided by a high efficiency, low emission biomass boiler burning locally sourced wood fuel. Water consumption is minimised by using low use fittings such as low volume taps and flush toilets, while wastewater is pumped to a septic tank from where it is discharged to a reed bed treatment area. The reed bed was built by volunteers and as well as treating our wastewater it provides a great home for wildlife!

Brockholes provides an inspirational setting for corporate events, with many businesses taking the opportunity to explore the beautiful 250 hectare nature reserve. A series of bespoke team building sessions can also be offered by the Wildlife Trust’s highly experienced Education Team.

Brockholes allows you to create a professional and memorable event, whilst supporting a local wildlife charity and helping to protect one of Lancashire’s most treasured green spaces.

Branded soft drink business AG Barr has recently held a successful event at Brockholes. “We had some fantastic feedback about the unique venue. It was a great environment in which to hold a business event, with a very convenient location & great facilities. I am sure we will return in the future,” said Joady Grime, group innovation manager. When you combine Brockholes’ commitment to delivering a high quality and environmentally friendly venue, ample parking and a convenient location at Junction 31 off the M6, you really have found the perfect venue for your next event!
