Last night we were honoured to attend the Motor Transport Awards 2016 with our client AAH Pharmaceutical, whose temperature controlled van was nominated for the Technical Excellence Award.

We were privilege to gain AAH Pharmaceutical has a customer earlier this year with a major new contract of 900 Ford Transit to be converted into temperature controlled van by our team over the next two years.

This new refrigerated van, known as PharmaVan II, represents the company’s recent rebrand and enhanced positioning and was launched at a special event back in November at the AAH Pharmaceutical’s Support Centre in Coventry.

This fleet of temperature controlled vans was set be the most technologically advanced pharmaceutical vehicle on the road, being built exclusively by our expert in-house team for AAH’s exact requirements with their commitment and determination to excel in delivering an exceptional first class, reliable service for pharmaceutical distributions in the communities.

Therefore it seemed fitting to enter the Technical Excellence category at this year’s Motor Transport Awards.

This specific category was aimed at the management of the specification acquisition, repair, maintenance and disposal of the operator’s fleet, demonstrating industry-leading levels of cost efficiency, reliability, availability, safety and first-time annual pass rates.

Innovation was also essential to stand out in the category, using technology creatively to solve a specific technical fleet problem.

The judges for this category wanted to see a high level of legal compliance, excellence standards of fuel consumption, reliability and vehicle availability, as well as development of new initiates to improve efficiency, cost control or safety.

Proven close working relations with drivers and operational managers was also a major factor for this year’s judging panel.

On the night, we were extremely proud to join our customer AAH Pharmaceutical and be present to see the deserved recognition they received when crowned winners in the category.

Temperature controlled van technical specifications

Each converted temperature controlled van was fitted with a Seven Telematics Transact unit linked to the Seven Eye portal, allowing drivers to constantly monitor the temperature of the fridge, maintained between 2 and 8 degrees, and the cargo area, between 8 and 25 degrees.

The fridge and cargo area, which are independent of each other, continue to operate while the driver makes deliveries ensuring no deviation of temperature.

Temperatures can automatically be logged with real time temperature recording, which is visible to the AAH Branch and Distribution network, and an audible alarm will be triggered, and group email alert generated, if there is any deviation of temperature.

An alert notification has also been added which will signal when the doors to the cargo area are open. Each refrigerated van comes with a full reporting suite and key AAH personnel are able to track the vehicle’s every movement as the driver is on the road. The vehicle has additional security features with six CCTV cameras which provide a safe and secure environment for the products, the drivers and the public.
