Talking with Blackpool Council’s head of business growth

Angela.jpg.jpg

Blackpool Council’s head of business growth, Angela Kershaw, explores opportunities for local businesses through Blackpool Unlimited and shares, as she says, “there’s nowhere I would rather be right now”.

Angela is Blackpool born and bred. For 20 years she has specialised in economic development and regeneration for Wyre Borough Council, and overseas investment into Lancashire with Lancashire County Council. As the Head of Business Growth at Blackpool Council, she’s excited about the sheer breadth of opportunities on offer for local businesses and explores many of them in this latest vodcast.

You can watch the full vodcast now to get the complete picture, and here’s a flavour…

Businesses see Blackpool as a serious investment prospect

“We are seen as a place to invest now. We’re seen as a serious option. If you’re a Blackpool business thinking about relocating, or if you’re from outside Blackpool thinking ‘I want to be part of that scene’ we will help you relocate.”

Blackpool Unlimited is here to help businesses in Blackpool, is a one-stop shop for the public, private and community sectors to come together and share experiences and access the free bespoke support we offer. We are currently helping the resort’s businesses start, scale, grow and decarbonise. We are here to support businesses, if you are experiencing growth pains, or any barriers to growth, or are looking to start your own venture, the team is here to support you. You can contact the team today. It is vital that we get to know who our businesses are, what their barriers to growth are, and what their issues are.”

Revisit the Enterprise Centre on Lytham Road for

“We rent out office spaces , and if you’re interested in taking up one of those spaces go to the website and join the waiting list. We also offer meeting rooms for interviews or team building. You can hire a room for a full day or half a day."

Project professionalism with virtual office space

“Perhaps you’re not quite ready to rent office space but you would like a professional look for your business. With virtual office space you can use our postal address for your mail, and use it on your social media, website and letterheads. We’re looking to extend that offer so keep an eye out for some different packages we’ll be delivering soon.”

Collaboration breeds innovation at the new Stanley Buildings

“We are aiming to create a business community hub not seen in Blackpool before. We’re going to be offering 44 office spaces, networking events, bookable meeting rooms for tenants and non-tenants alike. And we’ll be offering extensive co-working spaces, bringing businesses from all different sectors together in one cohort. That collaboration breeds innovation. If you want to benefit from that shared space and have that energy around you, that’s the place to be.”
