Spencer Hayes Group has prevailed at Lancashire Business View’s Red Rose Awards, winning the Professional Services Award.

The Red Rose Awards are held in Blackpool every year, and play out in front of an audience of more than 1,000 business professionals. This 2021 event saw the awards celebrated for the eleventh time!

Businesses from the length and breadth of the county vied for titles across a range of categories, with only the best of the best, as selected by a panel of expert judges, progressing through to the shortlist and a rigorous interview stage before being rewarded for their excellence.

Marc Kirker, director at Spencer Hayes Group, said: “Delighted to have won against some very strong competition – it’s fantastic recognition for the team who have worked tirelessly especially through such tough conditions which the past year has presented for a lot of companies.

"The amazing comments we received from the judges just reaffirmed what we’re trying to achieve as a company and it was a really good night – some sore heads in the morning but certainly worth it!”

Event founder Richard Slater, also the publisher of Lancashire Business View magazine, said: “The Red Rose Awards, now in its eleventh year, are very hotly contested, so Spencer Hayes Group should be very proud that they have seen off all the competition to win this award!”

Judges said: “Putting back comes naturally to this business and is at heart of what they do. They have a fun and quirky approach to their people and business, and while professional, Spencer Hayes looks a great place to work!

They have innovative approaches to servicing customers and offering risk management and business continuity services - they are not the run-of-the-mill insurers.”

Spencer Hayes Group is an independent commercial insurance brokerage and risk management consultancy. The firm innovated during the pandemic, producing a range of new products that suited disrupted working, including short term insurance covering as little as one week and pay-by-the-mile motoring insurance. The vital nature of its services saw Spencer Hayes Group earn key worker status, ensuring it remained fully operational throughout the pandemic, recruiting rather than furloughing employees.

As award winners, Spencer Hayes Group collected a trophy specially crafted by trophy partner Pendle Engineering.

Long-standing ITV weather presenter Emma Jesson compared the evening, with entertainment from MH Productions, HONK Lancashire's youth street band and The Tracks.

Headline sponsors for the event were Forbes Solicitors and Barclays. The official judging partner of the awards is Blackpool and The Fylde College.

The charity partner is Community Foundations.

The charity partner for Red Rose Awards 2021 is Cash for Kids and funds were raised at the awards event to support their work in Lancashire.

Lancashire Business View’s Red Rose Awards is the event where Lancashire business, commerce and industry are celebrated. It provides the best possible platforms to promote success, and to encourage trading within the county.

Since launching the awards in 2011 they have steadily grown and become the centrepiece attraction for the business community in the county with the sell-out ceremony taking place at the magnificent Winter Gardens Blackpool.
