Having worked with businesses across Lancashire for a number of years, below are listed the steps we have identified for a solid consultative approach, to developing your people strategy alongside your commercial plans.

Step 1. Identify the best strategies for long term business growth which will produce stable foundations and improved profitability.

Step 2. Perform a SWOT assessment of your current position and performance in the market place.

Step 3. Identify your current position and your business vision. Assess resources and talent you need to progress forward.

Step 4. Assess internal people structure against you goals and long-term growth objectives. Who do you need to do which tasks and do you have them already?

Example: One of our clients wants to grow by 40% over the next 3 years.

The areas we identified with them which needed strengthening to achieve this target covered 2 points;

a) Improve reporting processes within the business, specifically, drilling down into the cost of labour, materials and fulfilment

b) Develop a robust reporting structure around commercial figures in order to meet the demands of their shareholders.

We then identified what types of people would be best placed to support these needs in terms of qualifications and experience, in a candidate driven market and within his budget.

The Financial Director is happy we have completed vital groundwork in supporting him develop a long lasting team structure, and being to hand for the wider needs of the business as it continues to grow.
