SMUK Solutions earns Made In Britain accreditation

SMUK Solutions has been successfully accredited the Made In Britain marque for its bespoke balustrade systems and composite decking solutions.

Blackburn-based SMUK’s sister company Elite Balustrade Systems has been manufacturing high quality bespoke stainless steel and glass balustrade systems since 2007.

More recently the SMUK family expanded their market by introducing Elite Outdoor Living, manufacturer of Qwickbuild aluminium decking system and a range of composite decking boards.

The Made In Britain marque supports and promotes British Manufacturing enabling customers at home and abroad to identify British-made products. The idea for a logo was conceived by Prescot-based cooker manufacturer Stoves following research that it carried out in 2011.

The results of the studies showed that the British public was confused about what products were made in the UK. Stoves launched a competition among students at British universities to design a Made In Britain logo. The chosen design was launched in July 2011 and companies making products in the UK were invited to apply to use the logo.

The Made In Britain Marque is managed by a committee made up of MDs and CEOs of UK Manufacturing companies as well as other supporters of the industry. Together they formed Made In Great Britain Campaign Ltd, a not-for-profit company.

SMUK is the industry leader for quality assured balustrade systems: each system is designed and manufactured in-house to suit customer requirements and are dispatched ready for site installation without the need for any specialised tools or equipment required, saving customers time and money that would usually be spent for fabrication on site. The product portfolio includes stainless steel framed glass balustrades, framless glass balustrades, stainless steel cable railing systems, glass juliet balconies and a selection of stainless steel and timber handrails.

The company wanted to create a complete outdoor living solution for UK customers: following some extensive research and development Elite Outdoor Living was created. As the only UK supplier of the innovative Qwickbuild decking system the new venture soon took off with projects being completed throughout the UK. Qwickbuild is an innovative deck sub-structure which replaces traditional timber materials with marine grade aluminium frames and stainless steel fasteners. The system is extremely easy to use, slashing installation time from days down to hours. Supplied as made-to-measure frames or kit set assembled on site, it gives the end user the option to install it themselves if wanted. When installed together with Elite’s Ecodecking and Resortdeck composite decking boards, it is the first decking system to eliminate screws for fastening the boards to the frame.
