Skelmersdale-based Mechan Controls to be sold

Mechan Controls, a designer and manufacturer of machine guard safety systems has put itself up for sale following the release of its financial results for the year.

The firm's board has taken the decision to review the company's options as it looks to develop and grow revenues at a faster rate and they feel new ownership is the best way to achieve that rather than as a standalone business.

Wilf Boardman, managing director, said: "We've built the business over the last 15 years and now its time for someone else to take on the terrific opportunities to grown and expand the business."

Established in Skelmersdale in 1972, Mechan Controls is now a group of engineering companies designing and manufacturing bespoke products from specialist markets.

Its three divisions include Mechan Controls, a supplier of high quality, innovative and bespoke electronic safety solutions for use in a wide range of industrial sectors; Nirvana Engineering, a trusted brand in a niche market providing battery racking and cabinets to the reserve power sector; and PJO Engineering, which supplies provides specialist services to blue chip customers in the mining and utility sectors including proprietary drilling machines and methane extraction equipment. The company expects a review to be concluded in the coming weeks  and has appointed KBS Corporate Limited to conduct the formal sale process.
