Preston-based Sheet Piling (UK) Ltd has started to celebrate its 25th anniversary as the UK’s leading sheet pile specialist, by announcing its prestigious sponsorship of darting legend, Phil (The Power) Taylor.

Phil Taylor is the most successful darts player to ever play the game and was the winner of an unrivalled 16 World Championships.  He has been likened to Muhammed Ali, in terms of his impact on his sport.

Now in his 60s, Phil has signed up for the World Seniors Darts Championships, where he will wear the Sheet Piling UK logo on his shirt, as he tackles his opponents at the Circus Tavern, between February 3 and 6, 2022.

The tournament promises to be a nostalgic dive into the past, with familiar faces taking to the oche with Phil being, amongst others, Kevin Painter, Roland Scholten, John Part, Terry Jenkins, Dennis Priestley, Keith Deller and Peter Manley.

The sponsorship adds to an existing arrangement with another darts player, but one at the opposite end of his darting career.  In late 2020, Sheet Piling UK also announced its sponsorship of up-and-coming teenage darting genius, Keane Barry, and will continue to support his career development, running that sponsorship alongside that of Phil Taylor.

Darts is a sport of huge appeal to many in the construction sector, which is one reason for Sheet Piling UK’s support for its players.  Darts professionals also need to have nerves of steel – the core material that Sheet Piling UK supplies and installs day in, day out.  The exposure that the logo borne on Phil Taylor’s and Keane Barry’s shirts will bring, will be of immense value.

Speaking on Facebook about his sponsorship deal with Sheet Piling UK, Phil Taylor said: “Delighted to have signed a sponsorship agreement with Sheet Piling UK Limited.  A big thank you for backing the return of ‘The Power’."

Sheet Piling UK’s managing director, Andrew Cotton, in turn says: “We are thrilled to be able to help Phil Taylor make his return to the darting stage, pursuing more glories to add to his illustrious career record.  His phenomenal record of achievement will probably never be surpassed and it is an honour for us to be associated with such a legend.

“Sheet Piling UK was founded in 1996, the year that Phil Taylor beat Dennis Priestley in the PDC World Championship and also won the UK Matchplay tournament.  In the years that followed, both Phil Taylor and Sheet Piling UK enjoyed phenomenal success.  It is rewarding to be able to support Phil as he strives for his next title and as Sheet Piling UK continues to drive for further success.  We shall continue to show the same winning mentality in sheet piling that Phil Taylor shows in his sport.”
