Blackburn-based web development and digital marketing agency seoBusiness has delivered a website for a historic textiles firm seeking to expand into new markets.

Herbert Parkinson has operated as the John Lewis & Partners Textile Factory since 1953, supplying quality products such as curtains, blinds, pillows and duvets to the iconic retailer.

For nearly seven decades, John Lewis & Partners was the company’s sole customer. Beginning four years ago, the business began expanding its reach, supplying a full turnkey service from measurement and design to manufacture and installation of textile goods for hotel chains, care homes, senior living, student accommodation and other commercial buildings.

The new website puts a wealth of information at the fingertips of potential customers, including details of the company’s history and its manufacturing processes as well as case studies and testimonials.

Stuart Taylor, partner and senior contract manager at Herbert Parkinson, explained: “We are seeking new B2B customers to work with, the type we often meet at exhibitions and trade shows.

“The website’s main purpose is for those people we meet, and perhaps pass a business card or brochure to, to dig deeper into what we do and what we are about. There is much more information on the website than we could possibly convey in a short conversation at an exhibition stand.

“Our key strengths are the quality of our product, our reliability, the levels of additional support we provide and the fact that customers can rest assured that they are in good hands with us as their partner. The testimonials we have collected from existing customers give potential customers the peace of mind that we deliver everything that we promise we will.”

Herbert Parkinson is a strongly community-minded organisation, recently working in conjunction with John Lewis to donate £100,000 to the Darwen Youth Zone which supports young people in its hometown.

Stuart Taylor explained: “When looking for a web development partner, it was important to us to find a local company. It helps us support the local business community as well as giving us the opportunity to sit down in the same room as them, to hear their story and allow us to tell our story.

“I believe that genuine connection is at the heart of the best business relationships. In talking to the team, it was clear that they understood what we wanted from our website and that they have the skills and experience to deliver it for us.”

Stuart added: “Our ultimate goal is to increase revenues by increasing the number of companies we work with. As we enter new markets, this new website will be a key tool in attracting new customers.”

Latif Kothia, seoBusiness director, said: “We’re delighted to have been chosen to deliver this project. Herbert Parkinson has decades of experience supplying one of the most beloved retailers in our country.

“By targeting new markets, they are setting themselves an ambitious new target, and in delivering a new website which helps communicate their message – including their heritage, motivations and quality of product – we’re proud to be playing a part in their growth.”
