Second in the series of investment network events with Bay Business Angels

By Baines Wilson LLP

27 Jul 2017

Following on from the very successful inaugural Bay Business Angels event in March, the network will host its second investment event on 19 September 2017 at Lancaster University’s Business Management School.

The first event that took place on Tuesday 14 March was an exceptional start with over 75 guests in attendance and 40% of the pitching businesses received investment offers (normally for this type of event the figure is nearer 10%), some more than one. Pitches came from: Stephenson’s Dairy Ltd, MCM Medical Ltd, Oaktec Ltd, 4Rad Ltd and SW Asset Protection Ltd .

Bay Business Angels was founded earlier this year by six Lancaster based businesses:, Accountants: Moore and Smalley and CLB Coopers, commercial lawyers Baines Wilson LLP; National Westminster Bank plc, Barclays Bank plc, Lancaster University and Manchester based North West Access to Finance.

Key speakers at this second event will be tax experts from accountants CLB Coopers who will discuss the key tax issues to be considered when investing in a business venture. The event will also include; presentations from new entrepreneurs and innovators, networking and refreshments.

Ryan Wear of CLB Coopers said: “We are extremely proud to be a part of the Bay Business Angels and look forward to building on the success of the initial event back in March. To my mind there is no other initiative quite like this in the local business community and I am personally excited at the prospect of once again bringing together successful local businesses and potential investors.”

Steve Wall from Access to Finance added: “The North West Business Angels and Access to Finance are proud to support this unique initiative and are looking forward to helping more local entrepreneurs raise investment to achieve their high growth business aspirations.”

Don’t miss out! – Applications are now being considered by potential investee companies for the September event but there is still ample time for businesses seeking investment to make contact. Those interested should contact Steve Wall at Access to Finance on 07824472105. Potential investors (who will typically invest between £10k to £100k on an individual basis) who would like to attend but missed the first event should make contact with any of the partner organisations for more information – details below: John Wilson, Baines Wilson LLP – 01524 548494 Tony Whiteway, CLB Coopers – 01524 541200 Jason Bain, NatWest – 07770 543557 Pete Cornwall, Lancaster University Management School – 01524 510728 Richard Hall, Moore and Smalley LLP – 01524 62801 Jenny McCabe, Moore and Smalley LLP – 01524 62801 Steven Blunstone, Barclays – 07500 78214
