Lancashire Business View’s personality of the year was revealed at a special celebration of the red rose county and all organisations that call it their home.
Sandra Cottom Shea, managing director of SCS Logistics, became the first person to receive the new honour to the prolonged ovation of more than 100 guests at the magazine’s Lancashire Business Day event, held in the newly refurbished Accrington Stanley 1968 Lounge.
After an enforced break due to the pandemic, which saw a series of online events, the afternoon gathering once again brought the county’s business community together in person to celebrate Lancashire Day.
They heard of SCS’ impressive community and charity support work and Sandra’s personal and business journey, founding a Heysham headquartered transport company that today operates across Europe and has a turnover in the region of £3.5m.
Sandra, who was raised in Preesall and held a host of roles in the care and travel industries before starting SCS, including training as a nurse and spending 19 years as a senior member of British Airways’ long haul cabin crew, was clearly shocked by the honour, describing herself as a “proud Lancastrian”.
Speaking earlier as a member of the business day panel, she told the audience how her company had worked to become more involved in the community and described her team as “knights of the road”.
