The RSPCA Lancashire East branch have been announced as the official charity partner for this year’s Amazing Accrington Christmas Light Switch On, sponsored by North Lancs Training Group (NLTG), Sundown Solutions, Studio Retail Ltd and fireworks sponsor EG Group.

Every year the RSPCA Lancashire East branch, based at The Altham Animal Centre, cares for hundreds of animals that have been abused, neglected or abandoned in the local area.

James Stevens, chief executive of the RSPCA Lancashire East branch, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to run the charity street collection at this year’s Christmas Light Switch On.

“We are a local charity and our small team of staff and volunteers are dedicated to the rehabilitation and rehoming of abandoned and abused animals.

“It costs nearly £31,000 a month to run the Altham Animal Centre and any money raised from our generous local supporters, goes a long way to giving these animals a second chance.”

Amazing Accrington are asking for people attending the free live stage and Light Switch On event on Thursday 25th November to donate whatever they can to the charity street collection, with the work being done at The Altham Animal Centre crucial for the local area’s animals.

Once an animal arrives in their care, staff spend time assessing their needs, showing them much needed love, before rehabilitating, caring and funding their medical care, ahead of preparing them for rehoming.

Murray Dawson, chair of Amazing Accrington, commented: “The work being done at The Altham Animal Centre is unbelievable and extremely crucial for animals which are suffering in our local area.

“The RSPCA Lancashire East branch needs our support now more than ever and whatever you can give, will help to make a massive difference.”

Stuart Rogan, Managing Director of HML Recycling and Amazing Accrington ambassador, said: “We are thrilled that RSPCA Lancashire East are the official charity partner for the Christmas Light Switch On.

“What they do is nothing short of incredible and we are very excited to be supporting them on some great events over the next 12 months.”

Donations can also be made to the RSPCA Lancashire East Super Supporter scheme, which requires a minimum monthly donation of £3, via their website https://www.rspca-lancseast.org.uk/super-supporter-scheme. Alternatively donations can be made to their Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/rspcalancs.
