Two high growth companies have made the move to new premises in Rossendale.

Slingco and Rochdale Production Services Ltd (RPS) have both taken on new units at the New Hall Hey Business Park in Rawtenstall.

Rossendale Council has provided business rates relief over the next 3 years to assist with the expansion and growth of the two local companies.

The moves will protect 82 existing jobs and, in the period of the relief award, Slingco will create 24 new jobs and RPS will create six new jobs, helping to ensure high quality skilled jobs remain in the valley.

RPS is a high-end specialist engineering company that provides bespoke and highly technical products to various industries. These products form part of production lines including parts for the working of a liquorice all sorts machine.

Meanwhile, Slingco is an award-winning supplier of high-quality cable grip and wire rope products, with over 40 years of industry heritage. They serve customers in over 60 countries worldwide and have a base in Georgia, USA.

Stewart Quinn, group commercial director at Slingco, said: “Following our successful growth, it became clear we had outgrown our base in Whitworth and with extensive help and support from Rossendale Council we found the perfect site to erect a purpose built state-of-the-art facility.

“The move has already facilitated more effective collaboration with companies like RPS and we have settled into our new surroundings extremely well. We’ve got a happy team with high morale – which has got to be a good thing for all concerned.”

Cath Burns, director of economic development at Rossendale Council, said: “Both companies have demonstrated to Rossendale Council high growth aspirations whilst committing to maintaining, increasing and upskilling their current workforces.

“It’s been a pleasure to support Slingco with their business expansion plans within the borough at this brand new facility.”

Stewart continued: “We’d like to thank Rossendale Council for their help which enabled a smooth move with minimal disruption to the business. We look forward to working with them in the years to come as we develop and expand the business further.”

Alyson Barnes Council Leader added: “As a council we understand the importance of working closely with businesses and supporting them where we can. It’s a pleasure when we see that support really benefit the companies involved as that ultimately also benefits Rossendale as a whole.”
