Crow Wood’s partnership with RecycleIT continues to bloom as Burnley College students now dig it too!
Sustainability is at the heart of Crow Wood’s & RecycleIT’s business strategies.
Both companies are Burnley Bondholders and are committed to practices and standards which are designed to promote environmentally responsible operations.
Now a third Burnley Bondholder, Burnley College, has also become an official partner of Recycle IT, having agreed to strive towards a circular economy whilst offsetting its own carbon footprint.
RecycleIT is one of the UK’s leading providers of IT management services and ethical hardware recycling.
The company was formed to meet the need for a complete asset management service, offering safe and secure IT hardware recycling solutions with an environmentally friendly approach.
Andrew Brown, Crow Wood’s managing director, says: “it’s our company’s mission for everyone to continue to use their open spaces and its amenities for years to come, in an environmentally and sustainable way.”
Crow Wood has partnered with RecycleIT, which has pledged that for every tonne of E-Waste they collect from their clients and partners, or for every ten laptops/desktops sold, it will plant a tree at Crow Wood’s resort.
Crow Wood’s resort, which consists of a hotel, The Woodland Spa, three restaurants: Bertram’s, Wilfred’s & The Lounge along with Soccer Burnley, is home to wild deer, various birds of prey and has been designated as a wildlife sanctuary by the company.
Back in 2001, Crow Wood, in partnership with the Forest of Burnley, planted 25,000 trees. in 2019, when Crow Wood built the Hotel, a further one thousand trees were planted to make up for the land that was cleared for the construction. In the spring of 2021, a further 3,750 native English trees were planted by Crow Wood with an additional 4,000 having been planted by the Ribble Rivers. That totals a whopping 33,750 trees!
Carl Greenwood, business development manager at RecycleIT, said: “Part of our commitment to sustainability is to teach the next generation about protecting the environment. Now that Burnley College has partnered with us, we can get their students involved in this important local project at Crow Wood.”
Burnley College has pledged not only to purchase refurbished devices from RecycleIT where possible but in turn, has also pledged to recycle its redundant kit via Recycle IT too and receive a much-needed rebate for doing so.
“RecycleIT will also support Burnley College students by donating several devices which they can engineer and use to enhance their learning around sustainability and the importance of a circular economy.”
Robert Doherty MD of RecycleIT said: "Its great to see so many local companies come together not only to help each other but also help the planet. Sustainability is at the forefront of everyone’s corporate and personal responsibility.
"Our National Sustainability program has really seen a lot of people understand the importance of the services we offer from the football clubs to the NHS.
"Not only are we saving clients money on their refurbished devices, but we can also offer money back on redundant kits whilst recycling the end-of-life asset in a responsible way.
"We would like to say a special thanks to Andy Brown of Crow Wood for supporting us and allowing us to use his amazing facility to plant our trees whilst also thanking Jack Spees from the Ribble Rivers Trust who guides us on our trees and maintains them for the next 10 years."
