Pure Synergy Group takes to the mountains for charity

Aiming to make a difference this year, the Pure Synergy Group will be taking part in the Race the Sun Coniston fundraising event, raising funds for Action Medical Research for Children. Our teams will be pushing themselves to their limits to take on this triathlon-style challenge, taking place in the beautiful Lake District National Park in Cumbria.

On Saturday 18th September, the Pure Synergy group will be mountain hiking, kayaking and hill walking from dawn till dusk, with the hopes of raising at least £4000 by the end of the day. All funds raised will be going towards the amazingly worthwhile charity that helps to save and change babies, children, and young people’s lives across the UK.

The Preston-based company will be running two teams. Each team consists of 4 team members, with the rest of Pure Synergy Group working to help raise funds and awareness for the charity Action Medical Research for Children. The money raised will help towards medical research, developing treatments, vaccinations, and cures for the charity.

Synergy Technology’s Head of Sales Rachael Howard, who will be participating in the event, explained why she chose to support this specific charity this year.

"When the MD asked me if I wanted to do a walk for a charity event for fun, I heard the words 'fun run' and agreed! When the event came through, I was staggered to read the words 'gruelling 17 mile bike ride', '7 mile hike' and '2 mile kayak', let alone that it had to be completed all in one day. My initial thought was to quit the business and never return (joking, of course) and then I realised making money for children was actually really important to me. We all need help in this climate, so I decided to woMAN up!

"I've bought my crash helmet and my padded cycling shorts and I'm going to do it. I am training often to prpare for the day, in which my seat-induced John Wayne walk is become less noticeable. It's a great cause and my pain and suffering for one day is nothing compared to what these children go through on a daily basis without the help of this amazing charity. I'm lukcy to have the backing and support of my colleagues to join me and I am excited to Race the Sun on the 18th September".

Action Medical Research has been funding medical research and breakthroughs for nearly 70 years, starting out in 1952 to help find a cure for polio. The charity has continued with researching and helping to prevent stillbirths, fight meningitis, and change the lives of thousands of children. Nowadays, they are tackling diseases and disabilities, as well as protecting children in the fight against Covid-19.

We are incredibly proud of our team and cannot wait to cheer them on come Saturday 18th September. In the meantime, we are looking to raise as much money as we can for Action Medical Research, with a minimum goal of £4000.
