Pure AV is delighted to secure the £2m audio visual project for Ulster University’s Greater Belfast campus development. The landmark project will bring 75,000m2 of transformative learning space to the city centre, giving 15,000 staff and students access to new work, learning, research, and innovation facilities.

This second phase of the development features two expansive multi-level buildings situated opposite the existing campus. Modern and accessible, the facilities include 230 new flexible spaces ranging from four to six-person meeting rooms, various teaching and social areas to large 250 and 350-seat lecture theatres.

The University’s Learning and Teaching strategy embraces the shift from didactic to more flexible, social and collaborative learning. The audio visual systems are designed with endpoint technology to support blended learning and plenty of desk space for creative and collaborative working. Full integration with Extron GVE and consistent user interface design will ensure ease of use and enable coordinated management of the installed system.

Construction has continued throughout the pandemic, and despite the ongoing challenges of Covid-19 and Brexit, Pure AV expects to commence on-site works in early March.

Peter Sutton, managing director, Pure AV said: “This is an exciting, large-scale project that promises to bring some fantastic facilities to Ulster University and the local community. We are delighted to work alongside the institution and its partners on its delivery. We are no strangers to large-scale campus deployments, and having worked on the MECD campus at the University of Manchester over the past year, we bring with us additional insight into the management of successful operations during a pandemic”.

The project is due to complete this summer, with the building currently on schedule for opening to students for the Autumn term.

You can see progress on the construction of the building, including time-lapse video, at the University’s dedicated website. https://www.ulster.ac.uk/campuses/gbd/about
