Burnley based estate agents Property Shop have teamed up with Charter Walk shopping centre, Burnley Town Centre BID and Burnley Market Hall to decorate Burnley’s shops for HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Celebratory bunting was delivered to school children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 from 24 schools in the town, with the pupils invited to decorate, design, colour, paint or collage the bunting, which is now being used to decorate shops in #BrilliantBurnley.

For those taking part, there was some great prizes up for grabs, with the best bunting to win art supplies for their classroom plus a £50 #ShopLocal voucher.

The campaign, which was designed to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, is also encouraging people to #ShopLocal, with Little Barista, Massarella, Florist Lancashire, Burnley Bus Station, BFC In The Community, McDonalds, Beauty Spot Warehouse, Sweet William Florists, Labels and the Pennine Community Credit Union amongst the local businesses displaying the wonderfully designed bunting.

Visitors to Burnley will get a chance to see the bunting during a special event in the town on Saturday 4th June, which will include a bagpiper performing in the town centre, a 1940’s style band in Charter Walk, a town centre march by the Pendle Sons of Ulster plus much more.

Steven Chippendale, managing director at Property Shop, said: “The response from our young people has been fantastic. These children are extremely talented and they should be really proud of what they have produced.

“Here at Property Shop we believe strongly in #ShopLocal and we can’t wait to see people visiting our shops over the Platinum Jubilee Weekend and for the children to see their efforts displayed in shops around the town will be fantastic.”

Debbie Hernon, centre manager at Charter Walk and Burnley BID member, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Property Shop on another project in our community and it has been brilliant to see children all around the town really getting involved and celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee in style.”

Andrew Dean, Burnley BID manager, commented: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone at Property Shop and all the schools in Burnley. We have been overwhelmed by the response in decorating the bunting for the shops, and we are going to decorate all the shops with pride.”
