Preston College alumnus prepares for professional boxing debut

Josh Paladino, a standout Level 3 Sports and Fitness scholarship learner from Preston College, is gearing up for his professional boxing debut on Saturday 7 September 2024 as he steps into the ring at Liverpool's Fusion Nightclub to compete in the highly anticipated Super Welterweight tournament.

Jodi Collum, curriculum leader for Sport and former tutor for Josh, says: “Josh's journey has been nothing short of inspiring. As the son of a professional boxer, Josh has always been passionate about the sport. His dedication and hard work have been evident since his days as a scholarship learner, where he consistently demonstrated exceptional talent and determination.”

Josh says: "I am feeling good and as prepared as I can be for the match. I have had so much support from friends and family, which means the world to me. My journey has been fuelled by their encouragement, and I am ready to give my best performance in the ring."

Josh's academic achievements are equally commendable. Recently graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Central Lancashire, is testament to his commitment both inside and outside the ring. His educational background has prepared him with advanced knowledge and skills that will undoubtedly enhance his athletic performance and career in boxing.

Laura Staniforth, head of sport at Preston College says: "We are incredibly proud of Josh's accomplishments. His transition from a dedicated student to a professional athlete showcases his commitment to education and his passion for sport. We look forward to seeing him achieve great success in his boxing career."

Josh's professional debut is a highly anticipated event. Liverpool's Fusion Nightclub is expected to be filled with enthusiastic supporters, eager to witness Josh step into the ring and continue his family's legacy. His story serves as an inspiration to many young athletes, demonstrating that with hard work, support, and determination, dreams can indeed become reality.
