Prestigious appointment for Taylors' IP team

Taylors has been appointed as a Legal Affiliate of the national organisation, Anti-Copying in Design (ACID).

Taylors is the only North West law firm to have been appointed as a Legal Affiliate and joins nationally-regarded Intellectual Property firms to work with ACID's UK-wide membership.

This appointment reflects Taylors' heritage and expertise in the design field for its home furnishings, manufacturing and textiles clients. It currently works with many of Lancashire's well-known firms operating in these sectors.

ACID provides specialist help and advice to its members through its Legal Affiliates on all design-related issues and champions IP awareness and education in the UK economy.

It recently launched ACID Marketplace, the UK's first online design exchange to create a safe trading environment for its members and also successfully campaigned for Parliament to legislate for criminal sanctions for registered trademark infringement.

Taylors' Intellectual Property team, led by senior partner, Tony Catterall, is recognised both nationally and internationally for its expertise, particularly in the textiles, home furnishings, manufacturing and software sectors, ensuring it is recognised as a leader in the field of design and copyright.

It has won many notable and key cases in the High Court, Court of Appeal and House of Lords against major corporates. Tony said: "We at Taylors have long shared ACID's values and objectives in seeking to protect design and innovation from the corrosive effect of copying. We are proud to be the only North West firm to be selected as a Legal Affiliate and look forward to working with ACID members and our clients to promote and protect the integrity of original design and creativity."
