Power couple's bridal studio helping to end period poverty

Passion, dedication and love are what brought Liam and Melissa together. An urge to help underprivileged women, planning their own wedding and more love started their story launching Feathers & Florence; a tranquil, intimate and inspiring Bridal Studio in Longridge, Lancashire. Surrounded by rustic and rural wedding locations in the Ribble Valley – and the search for her own wedding gown – Melissa and Liam couldn’t shake the idea of having their own bridal shop.

That dream has come true as the studio doors opened to its first appointments on 23/04/22. The aim being to offer a safe and calming space to try on beautiful boho-inspired dresses. The collection has been curated by both Liam and Melissa to display the best in luxury feminine bridalwear. Think lace, champagne and floaty silhouettes. Every dress has something unexpected to offer with investments starting at £1500. Melissa and Liam have also made an effort to source gowns made from recycled materials wherever possible with designers like Stephanie Allin, Nicole Milano and Savin London gracing the studio hangers.

Liam and Melissa wanted their business venture to be more than just a gorgeous retreat for brides-to-be. For them it’s about equality – they are joining together (in marriage and business) as a partnership; a team. As a team of two, they wanted to give back. Right from the very beginning supporting a higher cause has been high on the priority list. This is why Feathers & Florence have pledged to donate 1% of profits to end Period Poverty and support women in crisis and get them access to period products to safeguard the dignity and empowerment of women and girls.

As this is a team effort, Liam and Melissa have chosen to document their story on Instagram, somewhat for prosperity but mainly to allow you to indulge in exquisite wedding content with a glass of wine on a Friday evening. “Look out for ‘The Edit’ posts; these offer tips and information to inspire your wedding planning journey. We want you to get useful insider knowledge to make your whole wedding journey enjoyable, not just being able to say yes to the dress!” says Liam.

Feathers and Florence are now open and taking appointments.
