Poulton gets London rail link
Virgin Trains has reversed its decision to skip Poulton when it introduces its Blackpool to London route. The company had initially deemed the station's platform to be too short for its Voyager trains, but campaigners protested that Network Rail had only chosen to reduce it in 2010.
Preston North and Wyre MP Ben Wallace took his concerns to the rail operators, outlining that the route into London would be essential for Poulton residents, as well as a boon for business and employment. He has now received confirmation that Virgin plans to incorporate the station on its route from December. The Blackpool to London line will run twice daily.
