Pennine Events supports Ride Leicester festival

Pennine Events, the North-West’s leading provider of complex mass participation sports and leisure events has won a new contract from Leicester City Council to deliver the event management services for the Ride Leicester Festival, from 15th - 30th August.

The festival includes the Leicester Castle Classic race and challenge events, as well as Sky Ride Leicester. It is a two-week celebration of cycling in a people-friendly city and includes a variety of participation and spectator events to encourage the people of Leicester and Leicestershire to get on their bikes, including guided rides, bike try-out events and bike related art, film and social events.

Pennine Events will be responsible for the event management of two key elements of the festival, including the Castle Classic Kermesse, the finale of British Cycling’s Elite Road Series, on 16th August. The race attracted more than 3,000 spectators last year.

Pennine Events will also be responsible for the event management of Leicester Sky Ride on 30th August, which last year attracted 14,000 riders, making it the largest annual Sky Ride in the country.

“Winning this contract to work with Leicester City Council, and help deliver the largest Sky Ride in the country is an exciting and challenging opportunity for us and we look forward to delivering a thrilling and successful event for the people of Leicester.” As well as mass participation and cycling events, Pennine Events deliver a wide range of other events such as awards, conferences and exhibitions, as well as working on a consultancy basis to support other event organisers advising on matters such as health and safety, event management planning, strategy, risk assessments and providing specialist staffing.
