A team at Miller Homes’ North West office took part in an extraordinary feat on Saturday 2nd September, conquering the “Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge” with the aim of raising funds for Dementia UK. Over £6,000 has been donated so far and the figure is still rising as the JustGiving page remains open for contributions.

This inspiring endeavour saw a team of 18 people from across all departments of Miller Homes North West embark on a challenging 24-mile loop with a total ascent of 5,200ft. Despite sweltering conditions, with temperatures reaching around 25 degrees on Saturday, the Miller Homes team displayed unwavering determination and unity throughout the expedition.

The challenge saw four groups, which was made up of a total of 18 individuals, supporting each other through the strenuous journey. Those who took part commented that “nobody was left behind, and everyone had the opportunity to either advance or take a breather as needed.” The true testament to the Miller Homes team’s resolve was their ability to complete the gruelling hike within their targeted 12-hour timeframe.

The first sub-team crossed the finish line in an impressive 10 hours and 15 minutes.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a renowned hiking adventure, inviting outdoor enthusiasts to conquer the three highest peaks in Yorkshire: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. This challenging 24-mile route showcases the stunning landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The relentless ascent and unpredictable weather conditions only added to the challenge's difficulty, making Miller Homes' achievement even more commendable.

David Brackley, regional operations director at Miller Homes, commented: “We are immensely proud of our team.  It was a genuine test of our endurance, teamwork, and commitment, and we couldn't be prouder. Not only did we conquer three formidable peaks, but we also came together to raise money for a very impactful charity."

The event was organised with a dual purpose to challenge the team's physical limits and to raise much-needed funds for Dementia UK. Dementia is a pressing issue, affecting thousands of families across the nation. The Miller Homes team is proud to have played a role in supporting Dementia UK's mission to provide vital assistance and guidance to those living with dementia and their loved ones.
