More than 2,000 shop visits were generated in Burnley this Easter as primary school children aged U11 visited local businesses as part of an egg-stra special competition.

The Easter trail sponsored by Property Shop and organised in collaboration with Charter Walk and Burnley Market, saw competition leaflets delivered to 25 Primary schools across the town, with children then tasked with visiting 10 participating shops to get their egg stamps.

Everyone who entered the competition received a free Easter egg but there could only be one winner and the first prize of a giant Easter egg and £50 of Love2Shop vouchers went to 10-year-old Mohammad Naim Rahman.

Participating shops included Property Shop, Charter Walk Centre Management Suite, JT Lloyds, Quick Crepes, Little Barista, Dress Up, Country House Gallery, Pennine Community Credit Union, Nexgen and the RSPCA.

Debbie Hernon, centre manager at Charter Walk and Burnley BID member, said: “It was an extremely special time seeing all the happy, smiley faces coming in on a daily basis to submit their entries and receive their free eggs.

“The competition generated over 2,000 shop visits from over 9,000 U11’s invited, so it has been an incredibly successful competition and we can’t thank Property Shop enough for this initiative.

“Whether it was after school or at the weekend, the excitement in the town was wonderful and we feel it really brought the community together this Easter.”

Brittany Riley, senior property consultant at Property Shop, commented: “Here at Property Shop we are really proud to have sponsored and been involved in such a brilliant initiative here in Burnley.

“We are an independent, local, family-owned business and this Easter trail was all about giving back to the community and supporting our local shops and businesses, as well as bringing a bit of Easter cheer to the children of Burnley.”
