Every year as part of giving back to the community around them, Oswaldtwistle Mills donate a real tree to each local primary school in the local area.

They then ask the children to decorate the trees and create an online competition, to select the top three most popular.

The Mayor of Hyndburn, Cllr Mike Booth, called in to Oswaldtwistle Mills to select the winner from the top 3 voted for by their followers, and they are pleased to announce that the winner of £200 in vouchers is St John's Stonefold. Two runners up, receiving £50 in vouchers each were White Ash Primary School and Saint Mary's RC Primary School, Oswaldtwistle.

The Mayor loved the decoration of the trees, and commented that St John's tree he would be happy to have in his home and it was very traditional  - he also praised the home made decorations the children had made for White Ash and St Mary's and what a great effort had been put in.

Nick Pitman, managing director, said: "Thank you so much to all the schools who entered, it is our pleasure to support the schools in our community and at this time of year what better to provide than their Christmas tree!

"The children have all put so much effort in with their tree decoration, we've had some fantastic photos sent in and they've all gone down really well online.

"We love to interact with our local schools, and we've had quite a few who have visited with their choirs. Our customers are delighted to hear the singing of the children, it's a real treat and they have been truly amazing. We're all ready for Christmas now!"

Paul Burns, head teacher of St John's Stonefold added: "Our children have thoroughly enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree, and the whole school community have embraced this competition.

"I think it's a fantastic way of bringing the communities of the local schools together and it's very generous of Oswaldtwistle Mills to bring such happiness to so many children in the local area.

"Thank you for donating the beautiful tree to us and choosing us as your winners! Happy Christmas!"
