Business advisory and restructuring specialists Opus Restructuring & Insolvency is celebrating continued growth at its Preston office, with the promotion of Sonya Brannigan to manager.

The announcement comes shortly after Amanda Hamlin’s step up to senior manager, reflecting both the expansion of the team and Opus’s commitment to developing talent from within.

Since launching the Preston office four years ago, the team has grown from a one-person set-up to a busy self-sufficient hub of five staff, supporting businesses across Lancashire and the North West.

Much of the office’s success has been driven by the strength of local relationships with intermediaries such as accountants, solicitors and banks, helping companies to access expert advice at the earliest opportunity.

Sonya joined Opus in November 2024 as Assistant Manager, bringing significant experience in insolvency from her prior roles. Her promotion reflects her strong technical skills, collaborative approach, and valuable contribution to the office’s continued growth.

Sonya said: “I’m delighted to have been promoted into a managerial role at such a key time for the Preston office.

“Opus has a fantastic culture that supports personal and professional development, and I’m proud to be part of a team that’s focused on making a real difference to local businesses.”

The Preston team works across a wide range of sectors, with recent trends seeing increased demand in construction and hospitality.

Although insolvency advice remains a core part of the offering, the team is committed to early intervention, helping businesses explore options for restructuring, refinancing, or recovery wherever possible.

Ian McCulloch, licensed insolvency practitioner and partner at Opus, added: “We’ve worked hard to establish a trusted and approachable presence in the region, and the strength of our Preston team is a testament to that. Sonya’s promotion is well-deserved and shows how we continue to invest in people as we grow.”

Trevor Binyon, managing partner at Opus, said: “The Preston office is a fantastic example of how our regional teams are thriving.

"We’re proud of the positive impact they’re having in local business communities and the way our people progress and lead with integrity.”
