Further details have been announced for three spectacular events taking place in Great Harwood over the festive period, with one of the UK’s most popular Taylor Swift Tribute Acts set to perform.

On Saturday 14 December, the Taylor Swift Tribute will be the support act to the event’s main headliner, which is set to be announced in late November.

The free-to-attend Christmas Shows, Music and Silent Fireworks Extravaganza will take place from 10am to 5:30pm in the Mercer Hall area and will feature a number of star performances including sing-a-long Frozen and elf shows, singing from a Neil Diamond Tribute and local singer Maggy Conanan, as well as Gavin Young, who will also be compering the main stage throughout.

Alongside the main stage there will be a silent fireworks display, Christmas craft and food stalls, a Santa’s grotto, children’s fairground rides, performances from a brass band, a children’s Christmas wreath workshop, roaming characters, buskers, community workshops featuring dancing, singing, music and Christmas card making, plus much more.

Funded by UK Government’s High Street Accelerator Pilot Programme and delivered by Hyndburn Borough Council, Great Harwood’s trio of festive events will get underway on Saturday 30th November with a Traditional Christmas Food, Shopping & Music from 10am – 4pm.

Located on Towngate, the event will feature food and craft stalls, plus entertainment including popular local singer Sophie Stott, 1940s singers Christopher & The Robins, the Sing Space Musical Theatre Choir, and the Helen Green Academy of Dance.

A week later and Great Harwood will host a Traditional Christmas Fayre & Ice Rink on Saturday 7th December from 10am-4pm.

The free ice rink will be open between 10am and 4pm, while the event will also feature a snow globe, food and craft stalls, wither further entertainment on Towngate including further performances from singer Maggy Conanan and the Neil Diamond Tribute.

Councillor Kimberley Whitehead, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Heritage and Arts, said: “The excitement is building in Great Harwood for what is going to be a wonderful festive season.

“The latest announcements include something for everyone and with the main act set to be announced later this month, as well as lots of opportunities to shop local, this is going to be a Christmas to remember in Great Harwood.”
