Lovell Homes’ Oaktree Grange development in Clayton-le-Woods has donated £500 to local swimming club Leyland Barracudas to help support them during 2019.

The club, which was established in 1974, has around 300 members, ranging from age five upwards. Apart from a paid chief coach role, the club is run entirely by its 40-strong team of volunteers and operates across four pools in Leyland, Penwortham, Bamber Bridge and Tarleton.

Membership is open to all sectors of the local community and the club currently has swimmers representing the club regionally and nationally including a swimmer competing with the National Down Syndrome Team and a swimmer who is a member of the UK Talent Programme. The club’s teams compete successfully in the North West Micro League, North Lancashire Swim League and National Arena League.

Rebecca Drinkwater, field sales manager at Lovell Homes North West said: “The level of interest we received from local groups to our call-out to help local junior sports clubs was fantastic, however, the Leyland Barracudas really stood out due to the impressive work carried out by its volunteers and the positive environment they provide for young swimmers in the local area.

“Working on projects which create a lasting legacy for the local community is incredibly important to Lovell Homes and we look forward to providing additional support to other local groups and organisations in the area in the future.”

Gayle Adams, fundraising officer for Leyland Barracudas said: “In the current economic climate it is increasingly challenging to retain a swimming programme of this size. Funds for items such as new lane ropes, new diving blocks and supporting our young volunteers to gain qualifications depend heavily on monies raised, which is why we’re absolutely thrilled to have received this donation from Lovell Homes. Any funding we secure helps to ensure our club can continue to provide a high quality swim training and competition programme within the community.”

On Saturday 27 & Sunday 28 April Lovell Homes is hosting a Help to Buy event for potential buyers at Oaktree Grange. Currently available to both first time buyers and those with a home to sell, the government’s Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme allows homeowners to purchase a new home with just a 5% deposit, alongside a mortgage for 75% of the property value and an equity loan from the government to cover the remaining 20%, which is interest free for five years.

The scheme not only helps first time buyers get that important first step on the property ladder, but also helps families upgrade or move to a bigger property up to the value of £600,000, which they may have previously thought out of reach. However, with changes to Help to Buy being introduced in 2021, meaning the scheme will only be available to first time buyers, Lovell is urging families to move quickly if they want to take advantage of  Help to Buy to move to a bigger home.

Both thoughtfully-designed and family orientated, Oaktree Grange offers a selection of stylish and contemporary 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes, only a few minutes’ drive from Leyland town centre. Using a wealth of sustainable materials and offering a premium specification, including premium brand name appliances such as Bosch and ceramic tiling from Porcelanosa, Oaktree Grange includes a playground and a lot of open space, making it an ideal development for growing families.

Oaktree Grange is located in Clayton-Le-Woods, off Dallington Avenue, PR25 5AG. The marketing suite is open 7 days a week, from 10am to 5pm. For more information on the part exchange event call 01772 507 453, or visit https://www.lovell.co.uk/developments/oaktree-grange-clayton-le-woods/.
