Lancashire County Council recently celebrated its 1,000th apprentice with a special presentation at County Hall in Preston.

Lara Mason has completed the Team Leader/Supervisor Level 3 Apprenticeship with Accrington-based training provider, North Lancs Training Group (NLTG).

Acting chief executive of Lancashire County Council, Mark Wynn, welcomed representatives from NLTG and LCC to County Hall, where he presented Lara with an Apprenticeship certificate and gift to celebrate her achievements.

Lara is employed in Trading Standards at LCC and her manager, Dawn, commented: “Lara has always been a hardworking officer, who looks at the bigger picture and fits her work into regional and national priorities. Since she started with Trading Standards, she has always been keen to help and train other officers or volunteer for difficult jobs, undertaking evening and weekend work when required, and is a great team player.”

The milestone apprenticeship showcases LCC’s ongoing commitment to provide opportunities for developing the workforce of the future, offering apprenticeships across a wide range of areas.

Mark Wynn, acting chief executive at Lancashire County Council, said: “This is a momentous day for Lancashire County Council, and I would like to say a big thank you and congratulations to Lara.

“We would also like to say a huge thank you to one of our key partners, North Lancs Training Group, for all their support and everything they do for us, both as a Council but also in supporting our Apprentices to shine.

“To have had 1,000 apprenticeship achievers, it is a fantastic achievement with all of our partners and for the council, so for everyone involved, including our team, that’s a huge congratulations for all the work that has been done.

“Apprenticeships offer an absolutely unique opportunity for both the Apprentices and the organisation to develop, introducing skills, best practice, collaboration with partners and across the council.”

Gareth Lindsay, managing director of NLTG, said: “We are extremely proud to have delivered Lara’s apprenticeship in Team Leading. It is a fantastic day for Lancashire County Council and one that we are very proud to share with them and to help celebrate.”

Lara Mason, said: “It was a really worthwhile course, I have enhanced my skills in Team Leading and Supervising and it is a real honour to be Lancashire County Council’s 1,000th apprentice.”
