Study Programme learners from North Lancs Training Group’s (NLTG) Accrington, Oldham and Bury centres recently went head-to-head in a ‘Bake Off’ competition, all in aid of Comic Relief.
On Friday 17th March, teams were put forward from each of the centres and came together at NLTG’s Old Bakery in Accrington, where they were given a set of ingredients and challenged to produce a cake worthy of taking home the ‘Bake Off’ trophy.
After hours of hard work in the kitchen with study programme tutor, Nas, the learners presented their masterpieces to an NLTG judging panel led by managing director, Gareth Lindsay.
Amongst the delicious entries was a Biscoff inspired cake, some red nose decorated cupcakes and the winning strawberry designed chocolate cake, which was produced by the Accrington-based team. The cakes were then sold to staff at NLTG on Red Nose Day to fundraise for Comic Relief.
Gareth Lindsay, managing director of NLTG, said: “Our Study Programme learners from Accrington, Bury and Oldham had a fantastic time competing for the bake off trophy, and the quality of what they produced was just brilliant.
“I thoroughly enjoyed judging the competition alongside my fellow judges and I couldn’t stop eating them, they were that good!
“Not only did they showcase their skills and teamwork to create some masterpieces, but they helped raise money for a wonderful charity in Comic Relief.”
Nas, study programme tutor at NLTG, added: “The learners all thoroughly enjoyed themselves; they produced some really good cakes and we hope to raise a good amount of money for Comic Relief.”
