A leading figure in business and charity has been chosen as Lancashire's new High Sheriff by HM The Queen.
John is a well-known figure in Blackpool and was instrumental in the creation of Radio Wave 96.5 FM and more than 33 years ago, started the successful Stardream group of companies.
Speaking of his appointment, John said: “This is a huge honour for me and my family. I will carry out the work for the people of Lancashire in this historic role to the best of my abilities. It is a wonderful opportunity for me to make a difference and meaningful contribution to the county.” The High Sheriff of Lancashire is appointed personally by The Queen. The role includes a duty to 'protect and assist in upholding the dignity and well-being of Her Majesty’s Judges and to project the principles of encouraging responsible citizenship and respect for the diversity of the community which lie at the heart of the Constitution.
