New care home roles to improve standards
The newly-created positions, all clinical leads, have been designed to maintain and raise the standards of care within the Accrington business. The three staff are qualified nurses: Susan Balazs will be the palliative care lead, Ann Waring holds responsibility for medication and infection control and Deborah Bennett will lead on ‘react to red’ and wound care.
The new roles will be in addition to existing positions held by Karen Fairclough, who will continue as health and safety lead, and Bernadette Bennett as safeguarding lead.Virginia Perkins, associate director for people and organisational development, said: “By providing these all-important opportunities to our workforce to help them progress in their careers, it boosts the morale of promoted employees, increases their productivity and improves the quality of care provided to all our residents.
“We are constantly working with staff, residents and relatives to look at ways we can improve, looking for feedback and never resting on our laurels. “By appointing a nurse to these areas it will mean the people who have put their faith in us to deliver the highest quality care will continue to do so.”
