Neales lands Heysham waste contract

Neales Waste Management has won the contract to provide waste disposal, recycling, and hazardous waste services at the EDF Power Station in Heysham.

In partnership with the facilities management company on site, Balfour Beatty, key account manager Louise Holgate and the Neale’s team assessed the various waste streams produced in each area of the site. They then designed a cost effective and efficient waste plan, which included a central waste compound to keep traffic around site to a minimum. At the opening ceremony of the Heysham 2 waste compound Colin Johnston, site manager for Balfour Beatty workplace, said: "The waste compound has been a fantastic achievement and a real beacon for what can be achieved when we all work together." To celebrate the contract roll-out a joint team from Neale’s Waste and Balfour Beatty Workplace presented road-shows and other events to educate employees on how to dispose of their waste and recycling materials using the new colour coded container system. Heysham 2 will now divert more waste from landfill than ever before and look to continuously increase the volumes of material that are recycled. Neale’s Waste Management and Balfour Beatty workplace will now review waste streams, recycling and disposal routes to ensure that the EDF Heysham site will achieve all of its future waste-related environmental goals.
