Mytton Fold launches World's newest sport

Mytton Fold Golf Club will officially launch FootGolf from Sunday 7th September.

Cropped England Girls

FootGolf is the fastest growing sport worldwide combining the excitement of football with the precision of golf.

The rules remain the same as golf, the player with the lowest score wins, but there are no clubs, just your feet and a bigger ball.

Mytton Fold welcomed England and Everton defender Fern Whelan to open the FootGolf course with a 'kick-on' on Tuesday 1st September.

Barbara Bryan, director of Mytton Fold Golf Club said: “We will be the first golf club in Lancashire to offer FootGolf. With the Ryder Cup just around the corner and the football season upon us, it’s an exciting time for the hotel to be introducing the sport.

"There has been lots of interest and bookings are pouring in – everyone is excited about this new sports opportunity.

"Golf Clubs across the world have seen a declining membership and the reason is not a diminishing interest in the sport, but as people get busier, they have less time to give up four hours for a round and FootGolf gives the opportunity to play 18 holes in just over two hours.

"FootGolfers tee off from new tees but the holes are placed at shorter distances. The holes are 21” in diameter and 14” deep and are placed off to the side of the traditional fairway in the semi-rough.

"The holes have covers so when FootGolf is not being played, the golfers don’t even know the holes exist."

Footgolf will be open every Sunday from 2.00pm onwards, with prices for 18 holes at £10.00 per person. There is a maximum of five players per team plus a deposit of £5.00 per ball. Tee-off times can be booked either direct with the Golf Club or through the UK FootGolf website booking form on
