Homebuilder Miller Homes has donated two large outdoor benches to local school, Kirkland & Catterall St. Helens Church of England Primary School in Churchtown, Garstang to create the foundations for an outdoor tutoring hub for its pupils, along with encouraging friendship.

The primary school, located nearby to Miller Homes’ Beacon Park development in Catterall, received the donation as the builder actively looks to contribute to the local community.

Teachers at St. Helens Church of England Primary school have been planning on creating an outdoor area for their children to sit and relax, and to develop friendships as well as creating a space for teaching outside on warm days. The donation from Miller Homes will help to bring this idea to life, along with the school’s plans to improve its woodland area.

Mr Scholz, headmaster at St. Helens C of E Primary commented: “Myself and everyone within the school would like to thank Miller Homes for their kind donation of the benches. Our teachers are excited to be able to extend their learning outdoors within the summer months, and we know the children will make fantastic use of them at break times.”

Clare Noakes, Miller Homes’ sales director for the North West, added: “It’s been great to support St. Helens C of E primary school with their outdoor learning area, I’m sure the benches have been a great addition, especially when the sun is shining!”

The builder has supported the community of Garstang in a number of ways since the launch of its Beacon Park development. Back in 2022, the homebuilder donated £300 worth of UV sporting equipment to local community group, Smash Sports club, for their ‘glow in the dark’ enrichment events.

Miller Homes’ development in the Catterall area, Beacon Park, has just a handful of three- to five-bedroom homes remaining, all of which are sustainably built and feature spaces for home working and flexible living. It was found in February 2023 that new homes such as these can save up to £3,100 on energy bills as opposed to older builds, according to the NHBC.

The development sales centre on site is now open to visit at Joe Lane, Catterall, PR3 0QD. Those wanting to find out more can also register their interest online.
