Local homebuilder Miller Homes has donated five large hedgehog homes to Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School in Rainford, supporting the school’s efforts to enhance local wildlife conservation.

The donation comes just as hibernation season begins, providing safe and warm shelters for hedgehogs in the area.

The hedgehog homes have been placed around the school grounds, offering vital refuge for hedgehogs during the colder months and creating an opportunity for Year 3 pupils to observe and monitor their activity.

This hands-on experience will form part of the children’s studies on nature and animals, encouraging a deeper understanding of local wildlife and its preservation.

This initiative is part of Miller Homes’ ongoing commitment to sustainability and supporting the communities surrounding their developments.

Located close to the school, Miller Homes’ newest development, Rookery Place, is bringing a range of 2-5 bedroom sustainably built homes to Rainford.

Clare Noakes, sales director for Miller Homes North West, said: “We are delighted to support Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School with the donation of hedgehog homes.

"Encouraging young people to engage with wildlife and understand the importance of conservation is vital for the future of our environment. We hope the pupils enjoy observing their new hedgehog neighbours and that these homes provide a safe haven for local wildlife.”

Sal Athey, Year 3 teacher at Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School, added: “We are incredibly grateful to Miller Homes for their thoughtful donation.

"The hedgehog homes have already sparked great excitement among the pupils, and we’re looking forward to incorporating the activity into our lessons.

"It’s wonderful to give our children a chance to connect with nature and learn about the importance of protecting wildlife in a hands-on way.”

Miller Homes is committed to building sustainable, environmentally friendly homes that consider the impact of their developments on local ecosystems.

The builder is proud to support initiatives like this one that promote environmental awareness and conservation.
