UK-wide business accountancy and advisory network MHA has made free organic sanitary products available to staff as part of its commitment for inclusion and wellbeing in its workspaces.
The move means Organic Mondays products are now available across all of MHA’s 21 offices so they are easily accessible to staff while at work.
Organic Mondays is a UK-based business which provides sustainable period products, based on the principle that menstruation shouldn’t be a barrier to success. The organisation works with businesses and schools to make sustainable, quality period products more accessible.
Its products are made from organic cotton and free from plastic, chlorine, chemicals and dyes, making them fully biodegradable.
Each MHA office will have a kit including tampons and pads which can be used whenever staff need them.
Anne Walton, ESG director, MHA said: “Around half the world’s population have periods at some time in their lives. Given MHA has more than 1,600 staff and partners across the UK, this is a significant investment for the firm and one we felt was important.
“We want to make sure people feel comfortable at work and help to remove the anxiety which people can have about periods. Ensuring sustainable products are always available demonstrates we care both about our people and our planet.”
The MHA network includes MHA and MHA Moore and Smalley. In January, the two firms announced their intention to formally merge from April 1, 2024 creating a nationwide audit, tax and advisory practice.
The commitment to make sustainable period products available to all MHA staff coincides with this year’s International Women’s Day (March 8), a global day which celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women while giving focus to key issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights and abuse against women.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Inspire Inclusion.’
Rachael Dagger, ESG manager, MHA Moore and Smalley, said: “We launched our ESG strategy in 2022 and this included our net zero goals as well as promoting greater inclusion in our workplaces and supporting employee health and wellbeing.
“After being gifted sample boxes by Organic Mondays last year as part of International Women’s Day, we began making the company’s products available to employees as an initial trial. The response was overwhelming, with other MHA offices around the UK asking for the products to be made available.
“This highlighted to us the importance of this initiative and how making this commitment aligns perfectly with our ESG strategy.”
Charlotte Ellam, UK sales director, Organic Mondays, said: “It has been a joy to work with MHA to introduce Mondays sustainable period products to all of their offices.
“The partnership between ourselves and MHA is a visible demonstration of both businesses shared commitment to inspire inclusion through everyday practices by creating a working environment where women know they belong.”
