Magma Digital is delighted to announce the appointment of Barry Johnson as director of operations.

Barry has previously held senior roles at some of the largest companies in the North West, including a directorship at Martin Dawes and a head of IT position at Home Bargains.

Barry's previous role was project manager with Ebay's Enterprise division, where his remit involved working with Europe's biggest retail companies across UK, Germany and Spain. He has a track record of high calibre performance and will strengthen Magma Digital's senior management structure.

Barry represents a significant coup for the software development company, with his technical experience spanning all the way back to 1978. During his time at Martin Dawes, Barry developed one of the first mobile billing systems, which serviced over a million customers before being acquired by Cellnet (now O2) in 1999.

In his role as director of IT at Simon Jersey, he developed their celebrated e-commerce site, which won a number of industry awards for design and functionality. Furthermore, at Home Bargains, Barry was responsible for the systems which supported over 200 high street stores.

Barry said “Having looked at the business and the people, I was struck by the massive potential for growth and I would like to use my skills and experience of innovation to help deliver this growth. I hope to help enhance Magma Digital's reputation as one of the most respected software houses in the North.” Magma Digital managing director, Jeremy Coates said “The extensive experience Barry has gained in client management and project delivery will help us improve our service to clients and his mentorship of the team will be invaluable. We are confident that his appointment will mark a new chapter of continued growth for our business.”
